The intention of NLT is to enable solution
identifying capabilities as an empowerment for all with the minimal
usage of external resources.
NLT IS IDEAL AND RELEVANT FOR IDENTIFYING SOLUTIONS
WHERE OLD INPUTS AND SYSTEMS RESIST CHANGE AND COMPLEXITY IS NOW
INHERENT. THIS WOULD USUALLY HAVE BEEN CREATED BY CONTROL BASED
HIERARCHY WHO USE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS AND LOBBY ATTEMPTING
TO HANG ON TO THEIR BASTIONS!!
MORALIZING ON RIGHT AND WRONG HAS TO BE REMOVED
FROM THE THOUGHT PROCESS WHEN USING NLT. JUDGEMENTAL OPINION BASED
ON THE PAST IS IRRELEVANT BECAUSE WITHIN COMPLEXITY THE FOCUS
MUST BE ON IDENTIFYING THE IMPLEMENTABLE SOLUTIONS, NOT THE IDEAL
OR RIGHT ONES!! WE HAVE HAD DECADES OF IDEALISM AND CRITIQUE THAT
HAVE AT BEST BEEN ABLE TO APPORTION AND ASSIGN BLAME BUT HAVE
NOT BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE US WITH IMPLEMENTABLE SOLUTIONS.
The UTOPIAN objective of NLT is thus to
remove dependency on elements that usually control solution design.
When evolving solutions with NLT, we need to first assume the
unavailability of the 3 common resources that have dominated our
thought process through decades in the linear era.
When using NLT:
- THERE SHOULD BE MINIMAL NEED FOR PRIOR
EXPERIENCE.
- THERE SHOULD BE MINIMAL NEED FOR PRIOR
KNOWLEDGE.
- WE SHOULD NOT NEED TO HAVE ACCESS
TO NEW RESOURCES FOR EVERY NEW PROBLEM.
While this seems to ‘knock out’ the establishment
and bastions of control THIS is the intention so as to empower
us to be self sufficient!!
Why don’t we need to use these
seemingly critical inputs?
In a Non Linear era and within complexity there
is little benefit of ‘past based analyses, experience or detailed
information’ because the past norms are no longer applicable
in an era where the only thing we are sure of is that the FUTURE
IS NOT going to follow past patterns!!! Past knowledge and
experience are merely good sources of peripheral information,
but are quite irrelevant as sources for solution development.
For Non Linear complex issues, successful solutions
require that the ethical or intellectual idealism be REMOVED from
the thought process. Right and wrong are relative and no longer
clearly identifiable. Most problems have been created because
of the differences within "multiple perceptions. These are therefore
relative and cannot be judged by any specific standard because
it is again “ based on the past”.
There are some or perhaps
many who would not need to use NLT:
- Those who are working on a new
technology: New inputs have sufficient LINEAR
growth within them in their early stages. BUT the decreasing
life cycle of new products and faster obsolescence of technology
are clear indicators that ‘Non Linear returns’ have now started
to set in EARLIER than before for even new technology.
- Those who are currently in CONTROL
of markets, people and systems: To them, the
thought of NLT is most uncomfortable because it ‘NEGATES”
the need and usage of PAST SKILLS and RESOURCES. This thought
process permits smaller competitors to enter their markets.
These persons, corporates or institutions have remained in control
because through a control based system they have had continuous
access to NEW resources; which has again enabled them to
regain or retain control.
- Those who always moralize and criticize
as a part of their normal management style: This
has become the intellectual privilege of obsolescent policy
makers, and those that still await the return of the past. To
them order is still defined in terms of “past patterns”.
Today it is apparent that the future is NOT intending
to emulate the past and “COMPLEXITY” has became the norm in almost
all socio-economic and management issues.
We require a simple Non Linear thought process
for a Non Linear world!
