In a non linear era and within
complexity only simple analogies to help could
help change perceptions as the mind receptive
is naturally receptive to an 'unstructured thought
process'. Non Linear Thinking is unstructured
only because it does not conform to
past norms or sequential logic. Its primary objective
is simplicity. The appropriate analogy for this
is humour and
music which are easily accepted by the mind because
both are Non Linear and unstructured till they
are completed. Their progression and end is specifically
intended to be unforecastable.!!
Though the “end result” is a new creation
or expression - the resources and inputs used
are always “old” and “familiar”.
THIS IS THE ESSENCE & LOGIC FOR Non Linear
Thinking. IT IS INTENDED TO BE WITHIN EVERY PERSON'S
REALM. (See 'EDICTS
of NLT')
Reverting to the analogy, the successful acceptance
of music and humour is more dependant on the attitude
and prevailing condition of the receiving mind,
than on the content or knowledge of the creator.
The “mood” determines the response
and acceptance of of the audience to new music
or humour. The “closer” the “new”
creation is to being familiar or simple for the
mind - the greater the acceptance. To the mind
“NEW events are seen as experiences that
have not
been considered in the same sequence before AND
this infamiliarity or level of unpreparedness
determines the impact. The same event "if
expected has minimal impact.
The analogy was considered necessary to differentiate
between NLT which is not a “Theory”.
It is a “Thought” process that attempts
to find new solutions based on existing resources.
The logic of writing on this thought process was
Compelling because Non Linear Thinking makes it
“easy and possible” to think on almost
any and all subjects, products, services and situations
without the need for prior knowledge or experience.
It should therefore have relevance to people who
have need to take varied decisions and now need
to recognize the “new influences”
that keep appearing in constantly changing conditions;
This would be specially beneficial for youngsters
commencing their careers, and those who set up
new businesses within constantly changing dynamics.
Predictably there would also be those for whom
there is “little perceived need or requirement”
for such a thought process.
Those in traditional hierarchy systems such as
Old Corporates and within Governments that have
created and depend on “controlled environments
to survive”. Those who base their business
models on "controlling markets, consumers
or the environment", have found great success
in the past BUT now find that these strategies
are no longer working.
Non Linear Thinking would be negative thought
process for those within old hierarchy systems,
like politics who resist
and “change” and consider it to be
an external issue. They generally believe that
as decision makers anything simple or obvious
must already be known.
External input is only acceptable if it is technologically
“new” or for greater economic benefit.
Paradoxically Non Linear Thinking would be best
suited to resource scarce business and in reality
“most of us”; BUT requires the acknowledge
of scarcity when present.
The ability of Non Linear Thinking ( referred
to as 'NLT' hereafter) to isolate the extreme
variations and complexities makes it ideal for
niche identification and positioning and evolving
solutions for "dilemma type,situations &
where conflict
seems to become the first response. (See
'NLT - An ideal tool for Positioning')
For small businesses and individuals the ideal
solutions design must depend and maximize the
use of existing resources within their current
environments. This is necessary for the resource-scarce
majority who require low cost solutions, based
on existing conditions and resources, because
the next change will require NEW solutions.
New “music”, but with the same instrument
and notes.
