An unforeseen event or unexpected result is
conventionally referred to as change. The severity
and ability of this change to unsettle the economic
equilibrium of a person, society or infrastructure
into uncontrollable disorder is referred to
as 'CHAOS'.
It is however the "level of preparedness"
that defines the IMPACT of change or chaos;
and not
the event itself (excluding natural disasters).
CHAOS is thus 'discriminatory
and does not have an EQUAL effect on all'.
Within frequent change there is a recurring
perception of economic chaos because of the
decreasing ability to forecast future economic
directions. In this era the perception of chaos
is related to economic conditions.
Economic & Social Chaos occurs almost
always where change IS RESISTED! Hence Chaos
must be seen to be "a created event"
of unmanaged change and hence within constant
change a patterned event.
We need management skills that can avert
chaos and at worst can forecast chaos??
Since the OUTPUT from chaos
is usually unknown, the RESULT would not help
analyze the cause. Chaos is
created by one or many of the INPUTS.
When the normal or expected YIELD-OUTPUT from
old inputs cease be according to old norms and
YET they continue to be used then they start
to create a NEW RESULT. These could be the early
perceptive signs of impending chaos.
There is a stage when the yield FROM our erstwhile
successful INPUTS starts to decline and provide
lesser or no return. This is termed within NLT
as "RELATIVE SATURATION".
NLT considers Relative Saturation (RS) to be
the best indicator for averting chaos based
on managed change of input.
Our management ability and skill sets in the
non linear era must shift FROM attempting to
forecast the future of OUTPUT TO identifying
as early as possible THE SPECIFIC INPUT
OR SET OF INPUTS WHOSE YIELDS ARE FALLING &
identify THOSE THAT REQUIRE TO BE CHANGED TO
AVERT CHAOS.
NLT reveals that ECONOMIC and SOCIAL ORDER is
possible and easier when there are “unequal
forces”. The process of equalization within
these forces tends to create DISORDER.
A SEEMINGLY CONTRADICTORY STATEMENT…A
PARADOX!!
Within this non linear era we need to perceive
chaos as a patterned event created by OUR OWN
INPUTS and perhaps the inevitable TRANSITION
that will facilitate the needed change. Chaos
can also be considered to be the result of “the
increasing equalization” of erstwhile
unequal or disparate forces.
